Cutera CoolGlide Laser Hair Removal Frequently Asked Questions
What areas can be treated with CoolGlide?
The CoolGlide can remove hair from all parts of the body including the face, legs, arms, underarms, and back. You can also treat sensitive areas like the chest and bikini line!
What does a CoolGlide treatment feel like?
This treatment cools and soothes as it glides along your skin. When the pulse of energy is delivered, some patients may experience a mild pinching sensation. Cold packs will be applied prior to the treatment to ease the comfort level.
How many treatments will I need?
Most areas require 4-8 treatments. The number of CoolGlide treatments required for optimal long-term benefits depends on multiple factors: what phase of the hair growth cycle the hair is in, the hair thickness, and the location of the hair. CoolGlide treatments work by disabling the hair that is in the active growth phase at the time of treatment. Since other hairs will enter this active growth phase at other times, additional treatments may be necessary to disable all of the hair follicles in a given area.
What happens after the treatment?
Immediately after the treatment the area may be red and swollen. Three to seven days after the treatment you may experience what seems to be re-growth of hair. Most of these hairs are being shed as a result of your treatment and are not re-growing. Between treatments you can not wax or pluck your hair, but you may shave.
Are there any restrictions on my activity after treatment?
Following the treatment, you can return to your normal activities right away. You must wear SPF of 30 or greater when the skin is exposed to the sun. There should be no sun tanning two weeks prior to your laser treatment and two weeks post treatment.
What are the possible side effects?
The most common side effects may include slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to a sunburn. This may last for several hour or less. In rare instances blistering and or lighting or darkening of the skin (hypo or hyper pigmentation) may occur. If this occurs it does heal in time.
