Great news! Amanda Gallagher, board-certified Nurse Practitioner at Glo de Vie, is trained in Allergan’s new Juvedérm Volbella®– and is among the first in North Carolina to bring this product to you!
Looking for lip enhancement that is full yet natural? Looking for lip rejuvenation to restore a full and line-free lip appearance? We at Glo de Vie are happy to help. The answer is Volbella by Allergan!
Volbella is FDA approved for use in lips and perioral rhytids (fine lines around the lips, often referred to as “smokers’ lines”) for adults over the age of 21. Volbella has been custom-designed by Allergan for use in the lips.
Why is Volbella the right choice for me?
Vycross technology, a proprietary filler technology from Allergan, blends different molecular weighs of hyaluronic acid to create a smoother, more natural-looking, long-lasting gel filler. The aesthetic benefit: greater lift and a smooth, natural appearance to the lips. Volbella adds subtle volume to the lips, and softens the appearance of perioral lines (smoker’s lines). It can be used to enhance lip shape, or to bring back lost fullness that results from aging. In most study subjects, results lasted through one year.
Just as with standard Juvedérm, Volbella contains the numbing agent lidocaine, for a more comfortable injection procedure. Side effects are mild to moderate, typically lasting no more than seven days. Slight redness and swelling may appear immediately following treatment, but applying an ice pack can help diminish any discoloration or irregularities. With Volbella, there is virtually no downtime– you’re free to resume your daily activities immediately following treatment.
Additional Volbella Questions & Considerations
Who should avoid Volbella?
Volbella is not suitable for all patients. Those who have a history of excessive scarring, immunosuppressive therapy, keloid formation, pigment disorders or certain severe allergies should avoid Volbella dermal filler, as well as those who are pregnant or nursing.
What are the possible side effects?
Volbella side effects typically last for a week or less and may include:
- Swelling at the injection sites
- Local tenderness
- As with any injection, there is a risk of infection.
Before coming to our med spa in Raleigh for Volbella treatments, we suggest you avoid consuming alcoholic beverages and taking anti-inflammatory medications for three to five days prior. We also recommend scheduling your Volbella injections at least two weeks before any special event you may be attending.
Any mild discomfort or swelling may be treated with Tylenol, and an ice pack my be applied to the affected area for a brief period. The professionals at Glo de Vie suggest you avoid the following for at least 24 hours after your treatment:
- Massaging the treated area
- Strenuous exercise
- Alcohol consumption
- Extended exposure to sun or heat.
Are additional treatments necessary?
As with any temporary treatment, over time, results will eventually fade. Volbella has been proven to last up to a year; however, after that period, additional treatments may be necessary to maintain your smooth, youthful appearance.
